The SBDC (Small Business Development Center)
Inventors can get free assistance with many phases of starting up a business and in some phases of invention development at SBDCs.
Assistance comes in various forms, including free counseling, books, software, seminars and so on. What's more important, is that most of the assistance is highly qualified.
There are two options:
- SBDCs. Many Small Business Development Centers have helped inventors and small businesses successfully launch their innovations. Most provide free counseling on various aspects of forming a small business and on innovation. Locate one in your state.
- Patents in Commerce Affiliate SBDCs. Some SBDCs are Patents in Commerce (PIC) Affiliates and have a better understanding of the challenges of inventing. Many provide counseling and seminars on various facets of invention. They will have a substantial library of books and software. Their services are free.
Take the SBDC lifeline and get help with your start-up company and developing your ideas and inventions into real products and profit. America is counting on you.

The advice from an invention promotion company is never considered "free"...only "harmful". We also recommend you do NOT use SCORE as an adviser for innovation. They are typically executives from large corporations - not small entrepreneurial, inventive, companies. Their advice to inventors is consistently off the mark.
