Bob DeMatteis shares his insight
Bob DeMatteis, author/creator of the Home Study Course, gives some special insight:
"My career as as an inventor began in 1986 when I had an idea - literally a vision - while driving along a busy highway. I stopped at a Burger King restaurant and drew the concept on the back of a placemat. I pursued that idea that became the seed that has turned into more than 20 U.S. Patents today. I own all but 4 of them. I know there are many others with ideas that can be successfully commercialized if they only knew how."
"All of my patents have been successfully licensed either before or during the patent pending process. If someone ever tells you it can't be done, don't believe it. Smart inventors and businesses do it all the time. So can you."
"Two important traits I learned an innovator must have or must develop early on, are persistence and determination. You really have to have the fortitude to see it through. There's no doubt that there's a lot of hard work developing a new concept and turning it into a new product launch. But I'll also tell you, it very exciting and a lot of fun! I am so happy that I followed my dream in 1986, because it has changed my life in a very positive way. Hopefully, I can help you change your life too."
"People always ask me why I teach and give seminars on inventing if I've been so successful. The answer is, 'I don't have to give seminars, nor do I have to write books.' You see, I teach seminars, because I love it. It is as much fun as inventing. I didn't plan on being an author either, except eleven years ago when I set out to develop some seminars on inventing and patenting I had to write my own materials. The reason why is that there were no books teaching what I wanted to teach. And that is...'how to make money on your inventions.' I don't think it's OK to be successful in your field and not share the knowledge with others. Why are we here on this planet afterall? To keep all our secrets to ourselves?"
"Frankly, it's almost incredulous to think that books and materials on inventing and patenting would not focus on making money, but it's true. I'd like to share a secret with you that has been key to my career as a successful inventor and licensor. Early on I learned that the main reason that all my patents were successful, was because I was very good at developing a team effort. This is essential to your success. Look at any new product innovation and launch, and you'll see a team effort behind it."
"The Home Study Course teaches the important principle of developing a team and explains the duties of the four primary team members: inventor, patent attorney, manufacturing expert and marketing expert. This team doesn't cost you money, it saves you money. You'll learn how to find these experts and assemble your team, all the while, protecting your inventions and patent rights."
"I know I've had some luck in my life...but with some persistence and determination, I know you can be successful too. I wish you the best in your invention activities. Now go out there and make it a better world!"... Bob DeMatteis
